Chemical Products since 1922
The company A. Costantino & C. S.P.A. was established in 1922; activities began with the production of protein peptones and enzymes, such as pancreatin and pepsin.

Over the years the range of products increased to include protein derivatives of silver, bromine and iodine (silver protein, mild silver protein, bromopeptone, iodopeptone) as well as peptones for bacteriological use, employed both by animal disease prevention centres and in industry, for preliminary preparation of milk enzymes.

Production of enzymes was consolidated in the post-war period, and in the 1950s and 60s activities extended to include products for opotherapy and organ extracts. After casein hydrolysates were introduced to Europe from America, production of enzymatic hydrolysates of casein for pharmaceutical use was also introduced.

As market demand increased in the 1980s, resources were increasingly also dedicated to the development and preparation of peptones, protein extracts and hydrolysates of animal and vegetable origin.

The application of these products lies in the field of industrial fermentation, demand having partly reflected the development of biotechnology, as well as in the preparation of culture media for microbiology.

In 1993, the A. Costantino & C. S.P.A. factory was completely restructured. Latest technology plant and avant-guard process control systems were introduced, enabling the company to offer a product with the best-possible guarantee of quality.
